WT+ on 787-9 or 380?

Feel free to move, as I wasn't sure where this would best fit.

When given the option of flying LAX > LHR in November in WT+ on either the 787-9 or 380, which would you choose? Seat availability is wide open for both, and departure time isn't particularly important to me (787 leaves at 6PM and 380 at 9PM).

Honestly much of a muchness in terms of seats/comfort etc.

It's really down to preference on the aircraft. WTP on the A380 is a bigger cabin (though not by much) and is upstairs - so further from the engines.

If you prefer window seats then the 380 is the better choice since it has bins along the window that will take your under seat bag. If you prefer aisles, then I think it makes little difference.

A380 is a very quiet cabin.

As a window gazer, the 787 windows are fantastic but the sidebins give that extra space which is welcome on a longer flight.

My preference would be for the later BA268 too because its closer to normal sleeping hours, but LAX can be pretty busy by then. If you don't have lounge access, I'd definitely recommend considering this a factor.

The A380 window seats offer the greatest footwell space although the footwells in the 787 are decent enough but if you prefer an aisle seat the 787 will probably have a greater appeal as the IFE boxes are located against the seat leg and are less of an intrusion.

For sky gazing, the 787 window seats trump those in the A380.

Everything else is much the same.

787 features 5,000ft cabin pressurisation so you are likely to arrive less tired and dehydrated, but A380 is quieter

So does the A380.

difficult one because both are very nice to fly in, but depending if you have checked in luggage/if the flight is full, my personal preference is to go for smaller airplanes for a quicker departure/customs clearing/etc

It all goes down to personal preference though, and most of all curiosity - if you haven't flown the A380 it's quite a nice experience imho

This is one of the more forgotten features of the A380...

Pretty sure that's 6,000ft.

Though both aircrafts are much better than the older aircraft at leaving passengers feeling fairly fresh after a long flight, the 787 anecdotally feels somewhat the better of the two. Personally I'd say both are good options in WTP, but if it was otherwise neutral in terms of cost/timings and all other factors, I'd go for the 787. One very marginal factor is that the WTP cabin is quite small on the 787 services, so either you'll get a more relaxed cabin, or you may get pushed further forward if they have to upgrade WT passengers.

Both are good aircraft but I always fly on the 789 when I can. It's really nice. I just prefer the smaller aircraft, I feel service can be a little better with less customers. Although I'm sure the ratios are similar so that's just an illusion.

787 because when you get off the aircraft, there are fewer people therefore less waiting at immigration (in theory).

I'd vote for the 787 based on how much less "flying fatigue" I felt after flying the SJC route vs LAX on the A380 (though both are infinitely better than the 747 and 777).

I'm not sure if it's down to the slightly lower cabin altitude, higher humidity or just that the air in the 787 hasn't been through the engines before it goes through you, but I do remember feeling much more human and much less jetlagged after the 787 flights, and there was none of the funky engine odour you occasionally get on every other aircraft type (A380 included).

However, I would agree that the side bins do add a significant amount of personal space to the window seats on the A380 (this applies to both WTP and CW on the upper deck), and the 787 feels a lot less roomy in that regard.
