Room 535
- Stats
Now we come to the reason for the whole trip - I had to burn an Intercontinental free weekend night certificate!
My choice was Intercontinental Hotel Dieu Marseille as it´s one of the newer Intercontinentals with good reviews. The hotel was a hospital in the past and was transformed to a hotel.
I booked an Executive Suite what brought m a guaranteed and in advance confirmed upgrade to the Presidential Suite. Don´t know at which price they sell this suite (forget to ask but read 6600 $ in 2013). At 1200 € for 2 nights not the worst deal.....
The hotel is a landmark an can be seen from de la Garde

Check In
When we arrived we were fastly greated and the doormen escorted us to the front desk. Check-in was good, manager on duty introduced himself and we were give a tour through the property and our room. Definitively above average IC-standards.
Public spaces
They did a good job with the transformation, the hotel has character but is nevertheless modern.
View through the lobby:
I liked the art on the wall
Fresh flowers!
Old staircase
Terrace
Room
The Presidential suite offers 156 sqm indoor space and a 80 sqm Terrace. It was designed by Jean-Philippe Nuel and is different in style from the other rooms.
I liked the floors at the hotel
535 has a different entrance door from the other rooms, in fact it has 2 more at the pantry and the dressing room.
The entrance with my the new favourite sofa of my company:

Pool
The hotel offers also a pool. The pro: The pool is stylish and well done. Only thing I missed was a hot tub.
Location
From the hotel it´s a 5 minutes walk to the harbour, so I would call it perfect.
Breakfast
As we used our voucher breakfast was not included. They charge 25,00 € for the buffet what is OK. It´s served at the main restaurant:
Buffet itself offers many choices and was good. Not the best I have seen so far but solid
I ordered an omelette what was OK
Bar
One evening we had drinks at the bar. It´s stylish and it was very frequented. Our (non-alcoholic) cocktails were good.
Dining
I had dinner once at their Michelin-starred restaurant but will do a separate post.
Last day we had room-service. Solid.....
Overall
The IC Marseille is a good hotel and I guess by far the best option in Marseille. I can absolutely recommend it.
