Check In
I booked a water view executive suite via Pricesquire, who confirmed an upgrade to a Lighthouse suite at booking. The day prior I recieved an email inviting me to "check-in" while also offerring a place to input arrival time, which I noted as 1 PM. The mobile website did note that that was prior to the official check in time but that they would try to accomdate my request and would send an email when our room was ready. At 1243 PM on arrival date I recieved an email stating that the room was ready and we proceeded to take the short 17 min drive to the FS. After self parking and arriving at the desk, the formalities took all of 30 seconds (after being welcomed back). Of note, the apple caramel cookies on offer besides the checkin are excellent...
Room
This is probably our either or 5th or 6th stay at the FS here in Baltimore.. We've stayed in a number of the rooms and both the water view executive suite and now the lighthouse suite. I really dislike the layout of some of the rooms here (particularily the premier water view room and the water view executive suite) as I feel that the space doesn't flow properly.. however, the hard product is of quite a solid standard. This is our first stay in the Lighthouse suite. The floorplan and furnishings themself are solid but I feel that nothing really wows me over the standard room. The bathroom is a bit more upgraded given that the tub is larger and their are double vanities. As usual the bed is great and there is a balcony, which is small and remained unused during this time period. All together a solid suite. I will say though that the view from the Ligthouse suites are quite disappointing. I much prefer the view out into the harbor towards the Domino Sugar sign. This suite has more of a view into the inner harbor towards Baltimore...
Location
Harbor East. Probably the best part of Baltimore to be in. We ate at Charleston which is probably the best restaurant in town...
Dining
I've always found F&B here to be pretty weak. Wit and Wisdom has never been a favorite of mine. We only had room service for breakfast which was fine, but nothing special. Of note, the food did not come as hot as I would like... I have dined at both Loch Bar and Azumi, which are pretty good though a bit of a scene. Do note that the FSPP food credit is not valid at those two restaurants...
Spa/Fitness
It's a nice spa here and we typically use it every time. We had massages planned but canceled them in lieu of just relaxing before dinner. However my wife did have a facial which she really enjoyed. The hard product of the spa is still one of my favorites of an urba hotel. My only wish is that the heat experience was coed so I could enjoy it with my wife. I did use the gym, which has pretty standard technogym machines. During the summer, the pool deck is nice but an absolute zoo...
Service
Limited interaction but very solid. They had alternate toiliteries waiting in the room already (I'm allergic to something in L'occitane products) without asking... Last time we had stayed we had asked for a tea setup; which they already had waiting for us in the room. Nice little FSPP amenity as well. In addition, the delivered some flowers right after our arrival. However, in our first stays we had recieved a bottle of Champagne; the last stay a bottle of prosecco.. this stay no bubbly.. not a huge deal but I guess FS is tightening their belt a little... Checkout was handled smoothly as I had accumulated many gift cards which had to be run; going a lot quicker than I had anticipated...
Overall
We tend to go away 2-3 times a year, just for a quick staycation. Before the FS was built here in Baltimore, we would head to DC or Philly. Since then however, it's just been so easy to head 20 mins away. We will of course return (likely during summer as to use the pool) because it's a great urban retreat. We will likely however, try the Ivy because I've heard a lot of great about it as well...
