Check In

File_005.jpegFile_002 (2).jpeg1_File_004.jpeg

So we arrived at the IC Times Square for our 1-night Reward Night stay about noon on Saturday 12/10 and proceeded to the Ambassador check-in desk on the left side of the main lobby.  The friendly agent (didn’t catch her name) welcomed us to the hotel and thanked me for being a loyal IHG Spire Elite Ambassador.

Officially hotel check in time is 3pm, so I was expecting to just drop our bags and come back later, but the agent promptly found us a ready room on the 29th floor (of 36) and reminded us that this was an upgraded room (per earlier AMB request) from the standard premium/deluxe room offered for reward redemption. She then proceeded to present my son (age 4) with the hotel branded "Ambassador", a plush bee named Burt. He was thrilled and I found this to be a unique touch of hospitality. Additionally, the agent provided us with 3 drink vouchers good for any wine, beer or non-alcoholic beverage from "The Stinger" lobby bar.

We also had our parking ticket stamped ($39 for 24-hours) and account noted with a late checkout (up to 4pm) as part of the AMB program. Thoroughly impressed, we made our way to the room.

About 50 feet from the AMB check-in desk on the right is a hall with a bank of 6 elevators on which we quickly arrived at our floor.  As previously stated, we had been upgraded to a Sky View Double on the 29th floor.   Not having stayed in many NYC hotels before to compare, I would say the Sky View Double was a very decent size room, modern, well-kept and comfortable.  It was also quiet, as road/outside noise is minimal from I would guess from the 25th floor or so up.... in the dead of night only a rare siren would faintly be heard.

The bathroom had a great rain-shower head mounted on the ceiling as well as a handheld sprayer, ample lighting and towels and large mirrors throughout.

The entertainment area had about a 40" flat panel TV mounted on the wall above the work desk/dresser combo which housed the stocked mini-bar below.

The beds were extremely comfortable, balanced between firm and plush, and made up with several pillows, both functional and decorative.

The big highlight of the room was of course the stunning view from the 29th floor facing west towards the Hudson River and New Jersey between the NYC landscape. Picture perfect!

Service

Service throughout the hotel, from the sidewalk doormen, to the lobby bellboys and check-in agents was truly 5-star! Caring, friendly, compassionate and attentive are a few words that come to mind.

After a few hour of exploring the city we returned to our room (about 7:30pm) to find the beds turned down and a few chocolates left on the night stand, but not the Ambassador welcome gift that was mentioned at check-in, so I called the concierge deck to inquire.  We were told it might take until 8pm for delivery, so when the knock at the door came closer to 8:30 we still felt content.

The welcome gift basket included a few fresh as well as dried fruits, a small box of chocolate truffles, assortment of mixed nuts and a bottle of spring water. All in all, it was a nice gesture and reminder of the IC Ambassador level of hospitality.

Overall

Overall, the IC Times Square was a perfect hotel experience that truly sets the bar high and aims to please and pamper guests in every way.  The service both before and during our stay was attentive and accommodating, the location is central and convenient with parking steps away, and the overall quality of the rooms, facilities and amenities are ideal.

I would highly recommend the hotel to both 1st time visitors and New Yorkers alike and especially for IHG Reward Stays or BOGO certificates, as the value received here is simply second to none. I'll be back again soon! A+++
