We checked in for a one night stay last month. Early check in (12 noon) was assured as a PLAT guest. Reaching the hotel from LHR T2 was easy - 45 minutes on the tube via Covent Garden. Our concierge Jayne was simply brilliant - charming, friendly, and curious. Reminded me of Eilis fromthe film "Brooklyn".

Jayne skillfully arranged our afternoon tea and accompanied us to our Queen junior suite on the 7th. As distinct from my last viisit in 2011, we did not get butler service - but it did not seem to matter. Our room was quiet, c/w a 4 piece bath and a wonderful rain forest shower. We cleaned up from our overnight flight andrested while Jayne arranged for us to have room service breakfast (comp) for our early am departure.

The tea was magnificent (see below) and we repaired to the fitness area for a swim (check out the jets!), sauna and steam. After, we arranged for the comp. shoeshine and our breakfast order before repairing for a good night's sleep.

In the am, our room service arrived early and Daniela offered to take my partner to see one of the suites with stunning views of The Thames - while I enjoyed the espresso coffee and The Times. Fascinating to see that the staff are from around the world - Germany, Ireland, South Africa and Romania

I recommend The Savoy for short stays. Its location, service, and ambience are simply brilliant.

Dining

Afternnon tea is not to be missed. It begins with a selection of 27 teas, and the food arrives in waves - sandwiches (my PF is the ones with horseradish!), scones, and cream desserts. We had a relaxing visit with families and the staff kept bringing refills - 3 hours - must be a record!

Room service in the am was great - arrived early - muesli, toast, OJ and coffee.
