Stayed hear with a colleauge. He is a Marriott Plat Elite and booked the rooms. I had a standard king bed room.
Check In
Arrived around 4pm, room was ready and check in was speedy. Was given a voucher for a free item from the pantry or a drip coffee in the morning at the "bistro" where breakfast was served. Used it for the starbucks branded coffee.
Lots of NFL branded promo items and POS laying around, as it seems Marriott is the "Official Hotel Sponsor of the NFL and Superbowl". I could enter some contest if I so chose, instructions were posted everywhere.
Location
Hotel was right off 101, and conviently near a shopping center and a Costco (w/ Gas Station). There were other dining options in the nearby area, but we headed into downtown SLO for dinner - about a 10 minute drive. Free parking down town after 6pm. Firestone Grill is one of my favorite spots downtown, great burgers and salads and a nice bar as well.
Room
Room was a pretty standard affair - king bed was comfy, sheets were slightly scratchy, lots of pillows to make yourself comfortable. TV was large compared to other rooms I have stayed in recently, and it even had Netflix! A welcome treat after 7 hours in the car during the day. Wifi was free and reasonably fast to check emails, browse web.
Hallway was louder than I anticpated, but I couldnt place where the voices were coming from. I could hear them when laying on my bed. Could have been my room's location at the end of the hallway.
I think the hotels heat was on, as the room was stuffy towards the door, but cold by the window. Was hard to find the right balance with the thermostat near the door and the AC under the window.
Bathroom was fine, towels were plentiful, water was hot and pressure was good. Paul Mitchell soaps were nice.
Dining
Breakfast was not included in the $134 rate, so I purchased the breakfast sandwich for about $9. It was tasty, but not otherwise remarkable. The fruit bowl that came with it was pretty meh.
I also had grabbed a beer at the bar in the evening. They had a nice selection of brews from the locally known and popular Firestone Walker (side bar - a neat tour of the brewery is about 30 minutes north of SLO on 101. Worth the trip if you like beer!)
Overall
Overall, clean hotel that was in good shape.
Two sets of elevators to use on the side of the hotel I stayed. There was a small gym area with some treadmills. There was also a guest laundry coin-op room if you needed to do that.
Bistro breakfast area was newer but in my opinion, overpriced.
Would stay again if in the area, and I am not even a Marriott member!
