I went to Bratislava for a weekend and choose this as I had good experience with the DoubleTree brand in Kosice, plus the comments in this thread were rather positive.

Check In

I was not able to check online but saw through the app that I was upgraded from a Deluxe King Room to a Suite King Room. I arrived early evening and everything was ready for me: they handed me the key to the Suite, which was located on the 8th floor, facing the new city and business district.

The agent was polite and briefly explain me the features of the hotel.

Room

The room was spacious but not as good as I expected. There was two rooms: a bedroom and a living room with a desk, sofa and a coffee table.

The bedroom had a dresser with a TV on top. The bed and pillows were comfortable and there was nothing to complain on this area. However there was no plugs at all, they were all located in the living room area. This was a bit annoying as I use my phone as an alarm clock and I plugged it overnight.

The bathroom had a closet with slippers and bathrobe, a tub and a spacious shower cubicle. It was directly adjacent the bedroom and it closed with a sliding door. Standard amenities provided, plus comb, razor kit, dental kit, sewing kit. The shower pressure and temperature control were good.

The living room also had a closet and a luggage rack, plus the furniture listed above. The sofa was really low, 20 cm above the floor and thus not comfortable at all for me. I ended up never using it and rather seat at the desk. The furniture was rather dated but still perfectlu functional. There was a couple of plug near the desk.

The only true negative point was the difficulty to control the room temperature, the AC is a rather old system and not very precise. I was always a bit colder than I wanted. It was not helped by the rather cold and bad weather this particular weekend.

Service

The service was a bit hit and miss. The check-in agent and staff at the italian restaurant were good, however the staff at breakfast was poor. They were not proposing hot drinks (except one member of staff on Sunday who was working thrice as hard as the remaining ones).

Dining

The breakfast buffet was quite nice, with a large selection and fairly good quality food. Hot and cold cuts, vegetables, some choice of cereals, large selection of breads, fruits, yoghurt were all present, plus some slovak cheeses. The omelette station was not manned on both morning I was there. The breakfast room had a nice atmosphere.

I had dinner at the in-hotel restaurant due to the bad weather one evening. It was rather good, I had a nice risotto with beef and dried tomatoes. Note it is an italian restaurant and there are no slovak specialties on the menu.

Location

Location is not that great, unfortunately. It is on the west side of town, near the new city which is a business area. It seems convenient for Bratislava airport but I was coming from Vienna airport and it was less convenient. The busses from Vienna do not stop nearby and a change to a bus or tram is required. The hotel is on a large avenue which can not be crossed anywhere as there is a fence in the middle. So from the nearby bus stop one must go a bit away from the hotel to cross the street and then turn back toward the hotel.

The Old Town is 15-20 minutes away via bus or tram. The tram number 4, north of the hotel is the most convenient.
