Excellent stay

I spend a long week-end for leisure in Kosice and choose the Doubletree as the reviews were good, the location ideal and the price was correct. 

I arrived mid-afternoon and could access directly the Honor priority desk. A nice agent welcomed me with a cookie, gave me my keys, confirmed I was upgraded from a classic King bed room to a Deluxe one and handed me a welcome letter as well as a voucher for premium Internet access. 

She answered all my questions, provided me with a city guide as well as a map. 

The room was quite spacious, as there was a separate section with the mini bar, safe and closets. The decor was typical Doubletree, not too dated, the hotel is well maintained. 

This Deluxe room was on a low floor, but it was designated as a Honor floor and far away from the lift. The views on high floor are probably not that good as the hotel is not facing the old town and Cathedral. 

The bathroom was very large and very bright, as it has windows. No walk-in shower though, but a very deep tub that was a bit hazardous to get out of. 

The service was very good, nothing to complain about. I had a minor point where I found the room not cleaned when coming back late afternoon but after a word with the reception, this was solved. 

I had no problem setting the bill the eve of the check-out due to a very early start and wanting to maximize sleep. 

All the staff I interacted with seems to take pride in their job and wanted to be helpful. 

The breakfast was good, large spread with a few local specialties. There was a cooked to order waffle station Monday morning, but not on the week-end. 

I had dinner at the restaurant once and while this was OK, this was very overpriced. The food was lacking in local options, although the menu is large enough and does not include only the typical comfort food choice. 

The gym is small and unfortunately, is in the basement. No windows and the Wifi does not go there, poor data reception too. So do not plan on using cloud-based musical player. 

The local is cramped and with too few options: one treadmill, one elliptical machine and a multi function strengthening machine, plus a bench and free weight. If more than one people it seems crowded. 

There is a sauna with jacuzzi in a separate room. Massage service possible also. 

The location is south of the Old Town, just at its entrance, on a side street of the main street. There is plenty of restaurants in a short radius, a shopping mall south of the hotel. 

Bus 23 from/to the airport is stopping 100 meters away, on the main artery south of the hotel. Check the schedule as it is infrequent: every hour on week days (30 minutes during peak) and every 2 hours on week-end.
