I recently recently stayed at Hilton Beijing Capital Airport during a quick layover in PEK and thought I would refresh this thread.  My flight arrived at 1am and my next flight was scheduled to depart at 1pm so I wanted to stay close to the airport and just get some sleep.  This hotel is perfect for this purpose - very close to the airport, comfortable, and clean.  The hotel feels very vast and airy, not only the ground floor area but also the hallways are wide and have high ceilings.  It looks like a nice and convenient place for conventions and meetings.

Location

When I arrived it was the night and it was dark so I just waited for the shuttle bus rather than walk to the hotel.  The shuttle from T3 is on level 1, outside door 5, and you need to cross the first lane in front of you and you will find the Hilton shuttle waiting parked in the second lane.  It departs from the airport to the hotel every 20 minutes, at :00 :20 and :40.  The next morning when it was light I could see how easy it is to just walk to the airport especially if you do not have much luggage and if the weather is nice.  The shuttle from the hotel to the airport (T3) leaves at :15 :35 and :55.

There are other hotels around PEK but I think the Hilton is the easiest and most convenient to get to.

Room

I paid 36k points for a basic room (standard award is 40k points) and was upgraded to a deluxe suite, which was nice.  A wall separates the living room from the bedroom, with doors on each side of the TV and wall to block off the bedroom from the living room for privacy.  The living room has access to a small toilet and sink.  The main bathroom is accessed from the bedroom and it has a toilet on the left side of the sink, and the shower on the right side of the sink.  The bathtub is in an odd location at the far end of the bathroom, next to the window.

The bed was comfortable and I had good sleep.  My room was at the end of a long corridor so there was no traffic outside my room and therefore no noise.

Dining

I arrived too late for happy hour and I left too early for afternoon tea, but I had breakfast in the lounge.  Breakfast was also offered in the restaurant but I did not go there.  The choice in the lounge was good - there is a buffet with a choice of Asian and Western options.  In addition there is a small a la carte menu for omeletes, waffles, and wonton soup.  The lounge was quiet when I was there.

Gym

I did not go to the gym, but I saw it on my way to my room on the 6th floor.  It seems to be a standard gym and it was not crowded around 10am.  The gym has good natural light as you can see on the pictures.20180305_205238.jpg20180305_205313.jpg

Overall

Overall this is a good place to get rest during a layover.  However it does not come cheap - 40k points for a standard room is on the high side.  Also, I noticed that the cash rates at Hilton PEK are not very different than some other nice Hiltons in the city (Conrad, Hilton Beijing and Hilton Beijing Wangfujing).  So you have to pay for the convenience of being so close to the hotel.

If I had a layover over 20 hours I would probably take a taxi and then enjoy a few hours in Beijing before going back to the airport.  But for layovers of only 10-14 hours then I would recommend the airport hotel.
