King Executive Suite

This was the first time I stayed a Hilton Resort and chose the Hilton because it was the newest international hotel in Jiuzhaigou being completed in late 2016. There is a main building which has hotel rooms and there are also villas that have the suites. I am currently a diamond member and I booked a "King Executive Room - Lounge Access" and I got double upgraded to the "King Executive Suite - Lounge Access", which is their second largest suite. The lobby was beautiful and decorated with Tibetan influence. When I checked in and spoke English and handed them my US passport, there was a bit of fear in their faces since they didn't speak English very well. When they found out that my girlfriend was Chinese, they spoke to her in Mandarin and completely ignored me which annoyed me. I didn't even know I was upgraded until they took us to the villa by golf cart. The place was fairly empty since I presume because it's fairly new. I was impress by the suite and it was quite new where there was still plastic on some parts. Our villa was quite high up so we got a good view of the area, although there were some large construction below. The annoying thing is that we couldn't control the temperatue in the suite. Since our villa was one of the highest on the hillside, we would have to call a golf cart to take us to and from the main hotel to our villa. The walk is about 10-15 minutes, but that's not pleasant when it's raining. The lounge was in a separate building and happy hour was okay. Although it wasn't always open like it was supposed to be. The gym was decent. The breakfast buffet was a good size but the food was meh. Very little English spoken by the chefs and waitstaff. We had dinner at the Tibetan restaurant and the staff was entertaining since they had a traditional Tibetan dance. The food was unique and I enjoyed the BBQ skewers. It was also my first time having yak meat. Service overall was pretty good. One thing I didn't like was that they were doing some construction on the rooms inside our villa during the day and it was noisy. But I definitely would recommend the location and get a suite in one of the villas. I paid about $150 USD per night, which I thought was a great deal for the suite with lounge access although I do realize that's expensive in China.

Check In

Most of the front desk personel did not speak English well.

Room

This is one of the largest rooms that I have stayed at and it was quite new. The suite also had a guest WC (toilet) in addition to the one in the master bath. The master WC was an automatic toilet like they use in Japan and South Korea. They even have an automatic mahjong table on the balcony.

Dining

There were three restaurants on-site...A Chinese one, a western one, and a Tibetan one. I tried the western one, which was fairly average. The Tibetan one was better and more interesting.

Location

The hotel is about 15-20 minutes away from Jiuzhaigou park.
