Check In

Arrived into MEX on Aeromexico.  Booked the Hilton as it states it's the only airport hotel, and Hilton properties are my normal choice. Even though AM is the main airline in MEX, the Hilton Hotel is over at the other Terminal, where all other then AM/DL/Copa flights depart/arrive.  You arrive into the Terminal and there's little booths for all the "airport" area hotels.  Found the Hilton one, and the agent asked for my confirmation and when I said I don't know it, got upset.  I told him I normally just give my name/HHonors number and they look it up and check me in.  He called over to the hotel (still didn't know it was at other terminal, over 15-20 minutes away by shuttle) and they found my reservation.

Shuttle came over and picked me up, drove me over, and walked me to checkin.  Staff was quick, but not really nice in any manner.  Got key for room, and then had to be shown how to get there.  The room numbering makes no sense what so ever.

It would have been impossible to find this place without the hotel shuttle.  You have to drive up like 4 levels in a parking garage, to find one small door that leads in.  Otherwise there's an elevator in the airport terminal, but no one seems to know that there's a hotel there.  It's not really clear at all.

Room

Got to my room, a standard king bed room.  I thought I had gone back in time.  This place is a dump, and looks like it was built 40+ years ago and never been updated since.  You either get a room with a window looking out at the always busy highway, or one with a window that looks directly into the airport terminal.  Basically it means noise at all times.  The bed was so rock hard, I actually hurt when I sat on it.  The sheets and pillow cases are normal Hilton style, but the pillows have seen much better days.  The floor carpet looks like something from 40 years ago and is rough.  The pod coffee maker was the nicest thing in the room is sad to say.

The bathroom is very small, the towels look like they've been around for 40 years also.  They feel like it also.  There was a bathrobe in the bathroom, however it was so short it wouldn't have covered my groin area.  It was also like the towels, so rough that even if it was long enough, no one would want to use it.  Standard Hilton soaps/shampoos were placed.  For the price this place is no where near what you're paying for, and falls far below Hilton standards, and I've stayed at some bad Hilton properties before.

Dining

24/7 full dining is supposed to be offered.  However after 11pm and before around 5am don't expect much of anything.

Location

As stated earlier it's over at Terminal 1 where all non-AM/DL/Copa flights depart/arrive.  The shuttle takes 15-20 minutes to get between terminals.  In the morning when checking out I ask about the shuttle back, only then was I told that in the morning they only run the shuttle every 30-45 minutes.  I was then told if I wanted to I could catch the Airtrain.  No one had mentioned there even was one.  Staff told me it's quicker then the shuttle.  (Why they don't just use it then instead of shuttle is beyond me)  Got in the elevator to go from the hotel level down to airport level to walk to the Airtrain.  Doors open, and the doors on the otherside are not shut fully, and can be moved to fully open.  I point this out to the hotel manager.  His response is to shrug and say well there's a wall there.  He didn't seem to get the point a child or someone could lose a finger/hand by sticking it between the doors as it goes up/down.  Also the middle point between the hotel and airport levels has no wall, thus someone could fall out.  He really didn't care.

Walked about 4-5 minutes in the terminal to the airtrain.  There's staff insisting on seeing a BP for an DL/AM/Copa flight and you have to argue with them if you haven't gotten one yet.  They finally let me pass and go up to the train.  Got to it just in time for the doors to close.  It takes about 12 minutes to go over to Terminal 2, load, and come back.  It's then about 6 minutes over to to Terminal 2 from Terminal 1.  At T2 it dumps you right by the AM/DL Skypriority check in counter.

Bottom line, the Airtrain is much easier to get between terminals then the shuttle.

Overall

Overall, the place is a dump, it's overpriced, and it seems that the staff just don't care, even with major safety issues.  There's a Courtyard I found out connected to the airport, and even though I don't normally stay at Marriott hotels, I'll stay there before I ever go to the Hilton Mexico City Airport again.  Pictures are of the room, and of MEX T1 that is viewable and heard from the window in rooms facing into the terminal. Note the airport is 24/7 so it never gets quite.
