Introduction
Welcome to another dimension
Check In
Arrived to the hotel by taxi (highly recommend yango taxi , the african cousin of yandex)
The building is not the most impressive i have seen in my life but it stands out within the area
This part of the city and dakar in general are developping quickly , and most of what you see today probably wasnt there 5 years ago . There is construction of the highest building of the country going on few miles away near the corniche , this one will most likely host a luxury hotel , let's just hope not another overpriced marriott
This hotel really had a thought about integrating local elements into the decoration
I think its due to ramadan , but got some extra treats when i arrived at checkin
First an oshibori
and then a juice from a tropical flower (sorry i forgot the name)
Meanwhile i went to take a look at the lobby , looks very nice
The restaurant also works on some formulas to attract external customers , mostly the new senegalese elites
Room
Once done with check-in , i went for my room, this time a simple upgrade from city view to sea view
Got a letter from deputy GM stating the benefits i can expect
Most convenient was the 6pm late check-out
As usual here are welcome gifts
Same offer from an ibis would be a good surprise , but from pullman its a bit basic , maybe i expected too much
Anyway it was good and tasty , but maybe they could have added a bit more
Let me show you the room
I really like the decoration of this hotel , they went for local artists rather than importing blendless items
The mini bar was packed with soft drinks, and all needed items for hotdrinks lovers
Bathroom was ok , without being the best i have seen
The usual suspects are here , thanks to new accor policies
Few details can show that this hotel is not brand new (but has been refurbished recently)
The first being the phone , and the second the "do not disturb/please clean" room control pad
Finally after the room , let me show you the view .
The room has a small balcony , enough for two people max and of course a sea view , which allows you to see goree island (you can see a bit of it on the left side), and down below is the beach club
Dining
First , let me show you the bar
Bar restaurant called terranga lounge, went there during evening for drinks It was cosy and cocktails were good , just cant remember prices sorry , but nothing crazy compared to what you see elsewhere in the region for such hotels
In the morning i went for breakfast , service started quite early due to ramadan
Choice was quite impressive , of course not as lavish as hilton but it was good
There is a very nice view from the terrace
Perfect place to enjoy your breakfast
Even uninvited guests are enjoying the pool
Gym
About the gym , its located at level -1 , you have spa + gym + small pool there
No idea if good cause i had no time to try
Beach
Last part of the hotel ; the terranga beach club , you need to exit the hotel and cross the street to get there
it is very quiet , depite being in the city center
The pool is quite big and deep , and the area offer plenty of space to relax
There is a bar restaurant but i was too busy swimming and taking pictures for you folks to give a try
The club is also opened to noon hotels custo, ers but they need to pay to enter ,
25k XOF (around 40$) is for a package "pool + breakfast/lunch" and 15k XOF (around 25$) for a massage
As you can see , it was quite empty when i went there , while yes i made my pixs in a way to keep the privacy of other guests , i stayed in this hotel during weekdays and also during ramadan, so i guess thats the reason why
One thing i like about this place is the small private beach , i stayed only few minutes cause the water was cold as hell , but i had fun alone there
Overall
In conclusion it was a very good stay , like an oasis in the middle of this desert , what astonished me was the level of quietness ; which is incredible considering its in the city center
I highly recommend this hotel if you come to Dakar, while the raddisson might be at similar level ; it is a bit far from everything interesting , so you would spend lot of time in taxis enjoying traffic jams
