I had a very good stay in this hotel for 5 nights. There were a few missed things, but overall good stay. I have stayed before in some really crappy hotels in Cincinnati and this hotel is definitely some steps above. Very modern with art exposed as in all 21c museulm hotels. This was my 1st stay at 21c and will not hesitate to try others. Diamond treatment was good.
The hotel is located in the heart of downtown Cinci on Walnut St.
Check In
The lobby doesn't really look like a classical hotel lobby, with some pieces of art exposed.
Check in formalities were very fast. I booked an offer with the ALL Visa Ultimate card. Normally, it was coming with a 50 USD credit for F&B but I received a 100 USD voucher instead. I was also given 2 drink vouchers each valid for up to 10 USD. I sincerely much prefer this system rather than receiving a voucher with tons of exceptions and finally having to beg for a glass of wine or for a cocktail. I was also upgraded from Luxuty room to Luxury Suite, so that was a triple upgrade !
The lobby and check-in desk:
The yellow pinguin is the emblem of the hotel
Room
The suite was a corner room, very large and with a lot of natural light. That was great for a 5 night stay.
The living room part had a big sofa, a chair designed by Eames, which I found very ugly and uncomfortable...but this is art ;), a table with 4 chairs. Nespresso machine. Mini bar was empty because of Covid (seriously ?).
Bedroom with a king size bed and plenty of drawers to put your clothes. Soundproofing was very good. One criticism : the bed duvet was to thin/light for the winter period. It was super cold outside at night (-10 to -15°C) and I was feeling cold often and so had to increase the room temperature via AC.
Very modern bathroom as you can see on the picture. Bathrobe was provided but no slippers
The welcome amenity was a bit meager : 3 very good salted caramels !
They forgot to service the room the 1st day. I came back around 5 pm this day. The lobby told me that the housekeeping staff is all gone by 3 pm, so they couldn't do anything this day. I don't think it is normal in a hotel like this to not have housekeeping on duty in the afternoon/evening.
Dining
The hotel has a good restaurant called "Métropole" where I had several meals. The bar is also located there. The place can be very busy as you can see on the pictures.
Museum part
Art pieces are displayed on the ground & 1st floors. All this is a question of personal taste. I would not have most of the pieces at my home but I liked the very colorful pieces displayed and I think it's a great idea to have this in a hotel. You can visit the "exhibition" even if you are not a hotel guest and it's free of course.
Overall
Overall, a very good stay. A much more modern and pleasant hotel than the traditional Mariott, Hilton, etc that are all identical and so conventionals.
