- Oceanfront One Bedroom Suite
We spent a week in November 2018. As a Spire Elite Ambassdor, I was fortunate enough to have been upgraded to a higher level room. The fascilities, staff, location and experience were everything we hoped for from a 5 star resort.
Check In
We were greeted warmly. Valet attendants were particularly responsive. Front desk was staffed by friendly, helpful and empowered individuals who were able to negotiate special requests without consternation. Welcome beverage was offered to the 3 of us and we elected for the fresh fruit juice which unique and tasty. Our bags were taken to our room while we got a tour of the property and ammenities.
Room
We were privileged enough to be put in the Oceanfront One King Bedroom Suite (1671 sq. Ft) which had tall ceilings and was incredibly spacious. Little things were nice additions! The shades would open and close entirely with a small tug and it would finish going across on its own. The Oceanfront One King Bedroom Suite has a kitchen which was quite important for us. We cooked many meals and hosted other family that were staying at other properties. We had family stay at the Westin and at the Ritz and our's was the social gathering place for meals due to the size and room's facilities. The pillows were all quite new and either too thick (foam) or smashed down too much for our taste but to others or over time this will likely change. The suite was a corner room with a wrap around shaded balcony that was shaded until around 3 pm. This was particularly nice to sit in the corner and the breezes from the ocean would blow across and led to a lovely time sitting outside. It does become hot in the mid to later afternoon due to facing west. We alternated between closing shades and opening them until the heat decreased some.
Bathtub - my wife described her bath in the giant bathtub as the absolute best bath of her life (along with the bath salts that were included). Walk in shower was lovely but water presurre from the shower head was weak and left something to be desired. It took a noticeably long time for hot water to comeout of the shower head - 1-2 mins. I would turn on and then come back to it 1-2 mins later.
The king bed felt great. Reading lights mounted overhead were well designed and useful.
I loved the sitting couch situated at the foot of the bed. I could sit there while my wife reclined in bed and we could each be comfortable in our preferred form of reclining.
Kitchen was well appointed. The nepresso machine is the same type you will often find in many high end resorts. We had purchased some for our trip to Bora Bora and brought them with us. We also had a daily refilling from housekeeping. The utensils, cookware, serving components etc were all good quality and not flimsy cheap items.
The dishwasher, toaster, blender all worked well.
A large wooden table comfotable seated 8.
A fold out sofa sleeper was used and good.
Air conditioning did have some difficulty keeping up in the late afternoon. I preferred to set it at 70 and by late afternoon it was 73-74.
The door has electronic settings for a)do not disturb b)house keeping requested c) normal. By selecting this inside it changes the color of the door bell outside. If selected as do not disturb, the door bell will not ring even if pressed.
Refrigerated and non-refrigerated 'bar' items were stocked (including alcohol, juice, chips, candy bars etc).
Placement of US electrical sockets was fine - but I always bring an extension cord.
Location
Located on the 7 mile beach a little bit further North than the other well-known resorts like the Westin or the Ritz -
Overall
After checking out several of the other well known high quality resort so on 7 mile beach,
Service
Everyone we encountered went above and beyond to meet our needs. Never did we feel like they were doing things grudgingly.
Morning coffee was served in a common area. And in the evening free wine and juice with hors d'oeuvres
