Intro

I wanted to do something special with my sisters to celebrate a milestone birthday. I chose British Columbia because I love big trees and mountains!

We met up in Chicago and flew to Vancouver where we had a driver/guide waiting for us. We did some quick touring around Vancouver and the Capillano Suspension Bridge Park, and then we drove the two hours to Whistler on one of the most scenic routes in the world…the Sea to Sky Highway…stopping occasionally to better appreciate the dramatic fjords, waterfalls, etc. 

The Four Seasons Whistler was beautiful with a fun mountain lodge vibe. DavidO booked a two bedroom suite for us under the FS Preferred Partner program. The rate included breakfast for up to four daily, a $200 food and beverage credit, complimentary premium internet, etc.

Two Bedroom Executive Suite

Our Two Bedroom Executive Suite looked recently updated with fresh carpets, some lovely wood paneling, natural stone tile, shiny chrome bathroom fixtures and brown granite. It was a generous 1,350 square feet with two master bedrooms linked by a living room and entry foyer. Each of the two master bathrooms was very large with dual sinks, a separate tub and shower, and a separate water closet. There were also two small decks with mountain views and two gas fireplaces.

Since there were three of us, we intended to use the pull out sofa in the living room, but the front desk was kind enough to recommend the rollaway bed as a more comfortable option.

Service

Service at this resort was super friendly and very responsive. Of course they acknowledged my birthday with welcome treats! Housekeeping offered flawless service, keeping up with our crazy schedule in the morning and at turndown. The short transfer service to Whistler village ran flawlessly as well, with their shuttle running every 15 minutes and the private car always available. Lastly, In Room Dining was able to pack a complete hot breakfast for us “to go” for our 6:30am departure.

The only trouble we encountered was getting our FS Preferred Partner credits applied properly. The front desk acknowledged what all of the credits were, but somewhere along the line certain items credited at different amounts or didn’t credit at all. When we brought it to their attention, they apologized and fixed it immediately, but the lack of attention to detail was annoying. This seems to happen a lot with our Four Seasons stays.

Activities

We were only in Whistler a couple of days, but we made time to walk on the Lost Lake trail that is accessed right outside of the Four Seasons. (This was a difficult choice as there were so many hiking and biking options!) The hotel also arranged tickets for us to ride the picturesque Peak 2 Peak Gondola so that we could avoid standing in any lines. We enjoyed lunch on top of Whistler mountain and later spent some time walking through the charming village of Whistler with its many shops and restaurants. 

If we visit again, we all agreed we would need to bring our families and stay for a longer time. There were so many available activities here…from golfing to bear watching to zip lining to serious hiking and mountain biking…and that’s just in the summer time! The village comes alive with skiers and snowboarders in the winter. And there’s no concern for altitude sickness since the base elevation is only 2,214 feet.

Dining

Our one dinner at the Four Seasons Whistler was at the Sidecut Bar. The grass fed burger was particularly good as were the creative mixed drinks. We loved the buffet breakfast, particularly the peach bread pudding with creme anglaise and the chicken sausage “in a blanket”. The resort also hosted a nightly s’mores station at the fire pit outside Sidecut.

Summary

The Four Seasons Whistler is a beautiful, well run property, and one my sisters and I hope to return to with our families. The wide range of activities is an obvious draw, but the hotel is also perfectly set up for families with many multi-room suites and residences to choose from.
