The superb photos and review by Offerendum above set our expectations for a 5 night stay for my wife and myself as well as our daughter and her family, including 2 children aged 5 and 7.  We agree that this property is manned by friendly, helpful, and very competent staff who helped us navigate not only the hotel, but also the town with all its important sites.  The hotel staff recognized and rewarded our Life Platinum status, and even one of the staff asked for my metal card to show to other staff, including the manager at his cocktail party!  The hotel manager as well as some other staff commented that my card was the first SPG Life Platinum card that they had seen.

We had a unique first time experience at this hotel that should become standard procedure at all SPG properties. A hotel Concierge, Pep, provides a computer screen that faces his guests that is linked to his screen, so that when a guest asks a question, he can answer by providing photos, descriptions, and even videos of local tourist sites on both computer screens.  Some of the videos that Pep provided us were ones he took of local sites and activities such as the train to Soller, allowing guests to be fully understand what would lie ahead for each experience.  We have stayed at a large number of hotels over the years and have used the hotel concierge religiously to describe many of the local sites, but the use of a computer screen for the guest that simultaneously showed what the concierge was doing was unique.  Pep is to be congratulated for his cleverness in presenting information to his guests.  Unfortunately other the other concierges that looked after us did not use this device, but we would urge them to do so.  Pep can be identified when he is at his desk at the hotel by the Golden Keys of the Les Clefs d'Or on his label.

We considered staying at the St. Regis rather than at this hotel, however after spending an afternoon at that property, we felt that for us this property better fitted our needs.  An interesting option was that any charges at the St. Regis could be posted to our account at the Castillo.

We did note one weakness-the dinner we had in the hotel's main dining room was not up to our expecations.  In contrast breakfast was fine, as was a light dinner another night  that we had on the veranda during a concert for Palma residents that hotel guests could attend free of charge. Another unique experience was the cocktail party that the Hotel Manager had for guests on the terrace, which gave guests opportunities to meet the hotel management personnel and suggest improvements.

We would like to return to this wonderful hotel in the near future, as even though we were very busy for 5 days, there still were many other sites that we still had not seen.  The two children commented that this was their best trip ever, and are urging their parents to repeat the exact same trip next summer.
