Park Hyatt Saigon

When it came to Saigon I didnt had high expectations. First I choosed the Intercontinental as Im not a Hyatt-fan and the suite at the IC had 30sqm more. Also we stayed in the end of February and the Park Hyatt closed in the beginning of March for a big renovation. I expected a totally worn hotel. The new opening Reverie seemed also to be a good option but it opened just in February and no suite was ready at the time we visited. So no option at this time.

In the end I heared to the advise at this forum and booked 1 night at the Park Hyatt in an Executive Suite via Virtuoso. With 800 € I didnt found it to cheap, but at least a dinner at their Vietnamese restaurant was included. As I wasnt ready to use a taxi in Sagon (funny if you consider my arrival) I also booked the S-Class transfer which made 75 € each way.

When we arrived at the airport we were promply greated by PH-staff in a white uniform. A brand new S-Class with entertainment system was already waiting and we made our 15 minutes drive to the hotel. Really a very convinient experience.

At the hotel we were promtly greated and escorted to our suite for check-in.

The lady offered us a paid upgrade to the Presidentials suite (didnt asked how much) which we declined. Our 110 sqm suite was good szized and in a good condition. We had a big living room with dining table and adjected kitchen, a second bathroom, a nice bedroom and a marble bathroom with a big shower. Even if it wasnt brand new we loved the attention to detail. A lot of original art, antiques and other little treats. Really a nice suite! As welcome gift we got a bottle of wine and very good snacks.

Our suite looked out the street. While the windows were very good sound proofed we learned that streets get busy at night....

One of the big advantages of the hotel is the great garden with a nice peaceful pool. We ordered some good cocktails.

The garden:

At the evening we ate our dinner at Square One, the Vietnames restaurant. We got a fixed menu with many differnt dishes in a great quality. Everything was totally fresh and very tasteful. I was really imressed. Breakfast the next morning at the Italian restaurant was also good with nice choices.

We got a late check out until 6 pm without problems, the transfer to the airport was again very good.

Sure, the PH isnt a cheap option but it offers great service and a good hardware. It will be interesting how it looks after the renovation. So far I can only recommend it and Im sure it will be even better when it reopens.

We stayed here in December on the last day of our holiday, after visiting Peninsula Manila, Amanpulo, Amanoi, Park Hyatt Siem Reap, Song Saa and Amansara. I actually thought it had the best food out of all of them, by a long way. I can still actually remember how good the desserts were, as we were eating them when the car (same Mercedes as you had, which were fantastic) arrived to take us to the airport, so as my partner was taking too long to eat hers, I had to join in and eat hers too. Twas hard, but I put the effort in where required.

I believe in this photo that KFC is bottom-left? https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8676/1...e4d35377_z.jpg

Strangely, the PH in Siem Reap had a KFC right outside from it too. We were so fed up with Asian food by that point that we actually went there for lunch. You have to risk your life to cross that road to get there, then risk your life when eating the food. I have no shame.

Did you do much when you were there? I thought the location was perfect, although unfortunately too close to shops, as we ended up in Chanel just around the corner! We ended up walking to the war museum, whereby I did appreciate the irony that I could pay in USD to get in. Probably took 3x longer to get there than it should have, as we had to learn how to cross the roads with the thousands of bikes everywhere.

Whilst HCM City is the official name of the city - the Vietnamese themselves call it Saigon.

So do we! Rangoon also.

I too thought the PH Saigon had wonderful food, far better than the Amans in Cambodia and Laos. I'm a huge fan of breakfast buffets and this was one of the best ever.

Trying to figure out what's up with the Reverie. Epitome of luxury, or a ghastly, over-designed affair...

Thanks for TR.

It doesn't look like they've made many changes during the renovation. Anybody know what was actually done.

I think it's a tribute not a memorial in front.

I usually avail myself of hotel cars, but I can't bring myself to do it in HCMC where PH charges 15x the cost of taxi.

Donīt really know about the changes. Car was of course expensive, not sure if I would do again. It was great on the one Hand but a S-Class isnīt uncommon to me. Also after my trip to the Six Senses I lost my fear of Vietnamese taxis

Yeah, but S-Class is totally uncommon to Vietnam! Sounds like you need the Pen BKK Rolls
